Guided tours of the Roman road

The importance of the Roman road

In the municipality of Limone Piemonte, it is still possible to recognise some stretches of the road that in Roman times connected the Vermenagna valley to the Roya valley via the Tenda pass. These fragments of history are today enhanced by a hiking itinerary that links Limone Piemonte to Limonetto and the Tenda pass.

To valorise this route, four guided hikes are planned in July and August along the stretch of Roman road that leads from Limonetto to the colle di Tenda. The guided tour will be led by a tourist guide and a nature guide in order to give participants a historical-cultural and a naturalistic-landscape picture of the ancient route.

The excursions are also suitable for families with children aged 7 and over and cost €15 per person (excluding children). You can register at the tourist office until the day before the date of the excursion.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in Limonetto at 9 a.m., the return is scheduled for 3 p.m.(for those wishing to travel by public transport, see bus timetables and costs here). Mountain clothing, hiking boots and water bottle are recommended.
