Accademie in Valle was created with the intention of bringing quality music and entertainment to the mountain centres of the Cuneo valleys. Accademie in Valle is inextricably linked to the territory and mountain communities involved, with the aim of creating mutual appreciation and lasting collaboration in culturally less active areas. In addition to Limone Piemonte, the Festival includes the participation of Entracque, Chiusa di Pesio, Vernante and Demonte.

On Saturday 8 August at 9.15 pm at the Teatro ‘Alla Confraternita’ in Limone Piemonte, the Ensemble Mistralia will perform ‘World Wild Folk’, as part of the Accademie in Valle festival. Free admission.

This concert explores and delves into various forms of folk music. The pieces performed have been arranged and reinterpreted by the ensemble’s members using classical music techniques, alongside contemporary and minimalist stylistic elements that renew the evocative charm of the original melodies.

The ensemble’s unusual instrumentation proves effective given the diverse folk traditions explored: Celtic, South American, Occitan, Russian, Italian Resistance, Balkan, Palestinian and Klezmer.

The ensemble’s aim is to convey, through folk-based repertoires drawn from diverse traditions, a message of tolerance and cultural sharing. Evoking the freshness of the Mistral wind, the quartet presents a sort of ‘travelling concert’, a musical journey in stages through the wild folk music of the world, in which the listener can ‘see what they hear’.

The performance is part of the ‘Accademie in Valle’ music festival, now in its 19th edition, which aims to bring quality music and internationally renowned artists to perform in the small villages of the Cuneo valleys.
