The lower Vermenagna circuit

Limone - Vernante

The 14-kilometre section of the Vermenagna Loop is particularly appealing because, as soon as you leave the main road, it allows you to discover an unspoilt and authentic valley. A number of improvements have been made to the route, reducing both the gradient and the elevation gain.

The lower route avoids the steepest section and shortens the walk by 2.5 km, turning the hike into a pleasant stroll suitable for all ages, perfect even in winter with snowshoes.

The route, which offers panoramic views or winds through the woods, is fascinating as it features a cliff face, Big Bench No. 19, a bouldering spot, a trail with large wooden mushrooms and a botanical trail.

You pass under a viaduct and alongside the Cuneo-Ventimiglia-Nice railway line. It can also be tackled in sections: there are several intermediate access points and three refreshment stops, two of which offer overnight accommodation. You can take the train to reach it or to return to the starting point, as it stops at Vernante and Limone Piemonte stations.

Along the trail, near the L’Agrifoglio farmhouse, an accessible bocce court has been created, equipped for everyone: this sport is suitable for everyone to play together, regardless of age, physical or intellectual ability, as confirmed by the associations that collaborated on its design. The visual-tactile panel makes the information accessible to visually impaired people.

Just a few metres from the bocce court, the giant yellow bench, created by the owners of the farm stay, offers a fun place to stop and rest. A short story about the location has been added to it, accessible via a QR code and designed to be accessible to all users, regardless of their sensory abilities.
